cat. converters are covered by federal law - 8yrs./80,000 miles for cars built 1996+.

check out the 'Clean Air Act of 1996' for more valuable information.

I am aware of this. I just was not sure if they still charged you for diagnostic time or not.

BTW, my cats are only covered for 7/70 because my car came with California Emissions. I now have 68,600 on it. Nothing like getting in before the bell.

would defeat the purpose of any kind of warranty if they charged you a diagnostic fee.

i would hope they don't charge you a penny.

Well, tomorrow is D-Day, it is going in for the cats to be replaced. For some reason I am a little worried. I know this isn't an easy job. I hope all goes well.

Your favorite. AutoFair. But I have had decent luck with them in the past and my service rep is pretty good. I have had one 1/2 bad experience in 5 years, so that is good for a Ford Dealer. LOL!!!

Man, the saga continues. I thought my car may have been done this afternoon, but they called me around 5 and said it won't be done until tomorrow. He said it is a real biotch taking the manifolds off of a 5 year old car and the Contour is a pain to begin with. He is only half done and has worked 6 hours on it!!!!

Would hate to see the labor charge on this sucker when it is done.
