If we do it right and mount the vent directly above the gap between the radiator and the front exhaust manifold, the water can just drip straight through onto the ground.

I have a vented hood right now, that I did myself and I have NEVER had any issues with rain, car washes or snow, etc. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.
