Yes, I've replaced it with a 5/8" ID hose, which works fine but will not stop the moose without the THF copper plug in place. There is a sharp bend needed to run the hose from the UIM to the right port on the intake tube/accordian hose which could crimp the hose. Other options:

  • Use 1/2" flexible SS natural gas line with rubber hose for the couplings. Handles the bend OK, but whistles at several RPM points.
  • Use the pre-shaped S hose without the soup can thingy. Add some copper elbows and straight hose sections to complete the connections between the S hose and the intake tube. (clunky...)
  • Make a elbow with 1/2" flexible SS natural gas line but use mostly 5/8" hose to connect to UIM/intake tube. Use THF plug in the winter. (current setup...)
