I went to the junk yard and scavenged 3 rear door switches, but I can't get any of them to light up. They all control the moonroof just like the old one, but also like the old one they don't light up. I think I've tried everything. I've tested them on all 3 leads going to the dome light. I've even pulled the one out of my rear door, and that one won't light up either. Furthermore, I tried the 3 new ones I just got in the rear door, but none of those light up. So to sum it up, I've tried all the switches in the moonroof and the rear door, but the only time I get light is with the original rear door switch in the rear door. And yes, I make sure the key is in the on position when I test them. What should I do?

The part numbers for the 3 new ones are all the same (14529 AA).

The one that is originally from my rear door is 14529 AB.

Can this mod be done on a 2000 SVT?

That's pretty funny since Bill Jenkins and I were the first to perform this mod. If the how-to was wrong I think there would have been more posts saying so. This has been up for at least 2 years now.

Icq me and I can see if I can walk you through it. You must be doing something wrong still.

Marty, I figued it out, and the how to is wrong, at least for my car (a 2000), Paul's car (a 1999), and GR8SVT's (a 1998 E0). I did it on their cars as well as mine at the NECEG Mod meet last weekend. Most of the how to is right except for the wiring. I had to add another pin into the moonroof switch. (Bottom row with three terminals), and spilce it into the Purple and White wire. I talked to Bill, and he thinks that the post 98's are a little different, and so is the case. Don't worry, we got it, and they all work like a charm!

The "how to" instructions are kind of vague. I just did this mod and one additional pin on the switch should be connected to ground. The "how to" says to connect to a "power source".

Hope this clarifies things.
