Think about this ... if they manage to get the flag removed, then you have lost part of your history. Enough of it gets rewritten already to be 'politically correct' and for 'political justification'.
These people are taking it all out of context and keeping an unfavourable past alive.
All country's have had some similar experiences with things like slavery and massed persecution. It seems to be that in the US the hatred is kept alive, a feeling that the people of today are owed for what happened one or two hundred years ago. All the time the common people are trying to distant themselves from their neighbors.
Take a look at certain terms for instance....African-American is the easiest to think of. The term is used to mean someone who's ancestors came from Africa. Surely though, they are now just AMERICAN !!! Look at the Irish-American's, how many of them are personally from Ireland, or even their parents ??
Why does there have to be division ??
What happened to the UNITY of the UNITED States ???
Let American's be called American's, unless they have dual-citizenship.
