I tried to argue the RPM thing to Ford until I was blue in the face. Now I'm taking legal action. My attorny is trying to dig up doc's to confirm the 8000RPM limit. I believe I have a good chance to get them to reimburse me for part of the repairs. Anyway I still have compression, now I have to tear down the motor to look for signs of damage. I just hope the heads are the problem seeing as how that is the only thing that has a warranty.
