That is about right. Did they change the fluid?

Do some searching here in this forum and you will find that it is not worth it. Better to buy a tour with an MTX. Just not worth it.

A company by the name of Level 10 does or did. Didn't I read somewhere that Level 10 does not rebuild the CD4E anymore? Anyway, there is a shift kit avaliable by Trans-Go that will help you get better (harder quicker) shifts, which will prolong the life of the cluthes and maybe some of the other components. I am not sure about the quality of this kit, but I know that it is not very expensive.

Just like everything else, as long as you take car of it and change the fluid in it on a regular basis it will be fine. Do some searching here in the forum about changing over to Mobil 1 synthetic ATX fluid, which will help your trannys lifespan by offering better lubrication and offer to a cooler running tranny. Also, since I mentioned the word "cooler", remember that the number one enemy of any transmission is heat and a cool transmission is a happy transmisson. Search around the forum about transmission cooler that can be added in a couple of hours and are very inexspensive. Most run around $35 to $70 I think for a conventinal cooler. I really need to get one of those myself!!

If they did not change your fluid, then I would suggest that you put that on your to do list for about 8 o'clock saturday morning! Just follow what Roadrunner suggested above about changing out 4 quarta at your next few oil changes. I would go ahead and change out the first 4 this weekend, if not tomorrow after work! It will only take about 15 minutes tops. Run it a bit first and let it get good and warm, this way you will get more of the only four quarts out.

Hope some of this helps you out. I am sure that Roadrunner can add a good deal to this. He does not have "**Offical CD4E Burner**" in his sig for no reason. Listen to whatever advice he has to give, not just in your case but others as well and you will learn alot.
