KKM is just the drop-in filter, right? If so, it wouldn't be a true intake because it doesn't comprise all of the components of an intake.
Unless I'm mistaken and there is/was a KKM intake available.

KKM is just a cone filter that goes on the MAF, my homemade intake worked better than a KKM intake and cost half as much.

So, getting a cone filter that attaches to the MAF for 25 bucks is a good deal?

yes and no... you need a small elbow to turn the MAF 45 degrees so the filter isn't hitting the battery.

Won't be nearly as good as a true intake.
