Hi, Some a**hole has stomped a chewing gum in front of the backseat. Any ideas how can I remove it ? It's completely dry now. I guess I have to soften it up - I'll try shampoo & water first, but I doubt it'll help. And thanks, I need no ideas on what to do with the guy. I've already have some Thanx, Tivadar

Try freezing w/ ice. When it is hardened from freezing then you may be able to pick/scrape it out.
I'm not too sure, but I seem to recall nail polish remover (aka acetone) being suggested somewhere too...I'd be careful and test that stuff first it is a pretty strong solvent...might dissolve the carpet too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't ice help? It won't help get all of it, but should help break off some of it.

Take a can of COMPRESSED AIR and spray it on the gum, while holding the can of compressed air UPSIDE DOWN. The liquiid expelled from the can, will FREEZE the gum, and cause it to break very easily.

I agree on the peanut butter solution. try using the natural kind. The oil is right on top using that makes less of a mess.

they make a gum remover spray in a can. pick up a can of that and go at it with a knife. you can pretty much get 99% of it up that way. they use it where i work if there's gum on the carpet, seems to work pretty good. otherwise, the peanut butter is cheaper, just don't go eating it all while you're working. :p
