i really appreciate the help, AND not getting ragged by everyone for not already knowing the answer.
i am going to check with a few auto parts stores, and if they dont help, i am going to go through with the appointment i have with Ford on friday morning.
i DO have the PremiumCare on my car, so my $50 deductible should cover all my "warranty-able" concerns.
one more QUICK QUESTION: will someone PLEASE tell me how to fix "the moose" ? mine does it really loud, and it is embarassing; people always tell me what a "nice car" i have, then i get embarrassed when it does that.
is it correct that fixing the moose involves a new intake air hose, IAC motor, and throttle body?
i feel like i read a simpler fix once before.
thanks in advance. Have you done "the throttle hang fix" with the copper pipe cap? I heard that that fixed it for some people. I have not installed my intake yet, as its still on its way here. I think BAT sells a moose fix hose under the intake stuff, www.batinc.net but i haven't had the problem (yet) so i have not had to fix it.

If that fails, you have to replace the IAC (about $50 and 20 minutes to replace), and if you have the "bagpipe" in lieu of a simple hose running from the intake tube to the upper intake manifold that will need to be replaced with the simple hose. The Throtle Body DOES NOT need to be replaced to fix the moose.

The part number for the hose is... F8RZ-9H308-AA Air By-Pass Valve Inlet Hose This hose can be found on TSB #97-22-3
I bought the hose and replaced the intake resonator myself. The hose costs $11, and it takes, literally, 2 minutes to install.
If you want to replace the IAC Valve with the newer design, the part numbers are... XS2Z-9F715-BA IAC or Air By-Pass Valve E83Z-9F670-A Gasket
I don't know the prices, but you could always ask Bill Jenkins for the CEG price.

Roadrunner Just noticed noticed your built date (mine is 07/97 for 98 Mystique LS Duratec) I've never had one ounce of a moose???? I've even removed the fender pieces and the internal deflector in the air box (which by the way has been the biggest improvement of any of the things I've tried) and have switched filters between a new Fram Tri paper and a K&N. Even cracked the secondaries last year (one turn) which helped the shortened delay/ hang return to idle, besides a touch more bottom end. I've always assumed mine was built with the corrected parts??? Paul N8BUU
