I had bought a Losi NXT a few years ago. Figures every car I buy they stop making.
RC cars are a pain in the ass. Seems like something breaks down like every time. Now I have several hundred dollars of stuff sitting in a box.

Where did you run CarpePoon? I used to run at Ryders when they had the outdoor track in the lot.

I used to work for a hobby store, couple years back, and got way into racing RC. If you are going to buy a kit, there is no other way to go, than the Team Associated TC3. It is by far the best designed RC on the market. When that little bastard kicks into second gear, you can barely even see it.

Be careful with that saying...I used to race the 1/10th scale electric touring cars, and it wasn't cheap. Most of my buddies I raced with were/are sponsored drivers. With me buying the things they got for free, I was easily in for a grand or so on each car with all the hop-ups necessary for me to be fast and keep up. It adds up really fast. Good race chassis was about $300 without electronics, charger ($150), batteries ($80 bucks for a set of matched cells, I needed at least five sets to have a good race day/night), electric motors (depending on stock or modified class, at least $25/motor), transmitter was at least $200 back then, electronic speed control ($125), faster steering servo ($100), tires/wheels (another 40 bucks or so), not including the different shock oils, springs, swaybars, and spares you needed when your car didn't work right or you broke something during qualifying. Gas is a little cheaper, but if you upgrade your motors, then the pipe, fuel, faster servo's.... the prices are ballpark from about six years ago, but you get the general idea.
You can do it a lot cheaper, most of the time, for less than 300 for a starter kit with radio and charger with a set of un-matched cells, but if you go crazy like I did and start racing.....watch out!
