Yes you can swap to the latest 'tower' without pulling the cog box....

I had the same issue as you are having. It lasted for over a year. The problem that Terry speaks of was part of the problem. The largest part was, believe it or not, a faulty clutch. The pressure plate was warped. Try this test: Put your car in gear and hold in the clutch. Floor the throttle. If you feel a slight lurching in the drive train (like bumping0 then you have the clutch issue. I had mine replaced under warranty and the problem was gone. Later in the year, my bolt (Terry's description) sheared off and fell into the tranny. My shifter had no connection to the tranny at that point. The story gets even better, but that is another post.

Brian,To go to a post 2000+ trans,re upgrades we will need all new sycro hubs,all new blocker rings,new bearings and selector forks plus the 'tower'....lot of 'dosh'..$$$$

Well.....is teh tower upgradeable by itself to get rid of the bining problem or is the problem associated with everything?

I want it just functional for now...without the fear of a bolt shearing and destroying the tranny...will upgrade the internals later (double the labor hours but oh well)...but teh Quaife will be getting done as we spoke of earlier.....just sick of "repairs" and would like to do some urgrades for HP rather that replacing broken shiet.......

You can change the tower yourself,internals when you have the Quaife...

sounds good.....do you have numebr on the tower (pm me when ya get a chance) or one to purchase through HMS inc...? or just go to local stealer and tell them I want something that they will have no clue what I am talking about because theya re morons....Judge is ina pisser of a mood today.........

I cured a similar problem in a lightly driven MTX, with synthetic ATX and a complete brake fluid flush - I had to insist (and literally watch) to get the clutch slave cylnder (under the dash) flushed as well. They charged an extra .9 flat rate hours, but the improvement was worth it. I assume the automatic 'adjustment' of a hydraulic clutch was 'prevented' because of the 'tired', old fluid. The mechanic was only 'under the dash' max 10 minutes. The total flush was 1 litre of fluid.

I think they BS'd you,to bleed/flush the clutch system you have to have the hood open to bleed from the slave on the trans housing,not under the dash!!...are you sure the tech wasn't sleeping !!!!!
