Help me out guys, the 01 duratech V6 that comes in contours (non SVT) also is in the 01 cougar V6's right? Now the diffeerence between that engine and the SVT contour is the extrude honed intake manifold and 19# injectors? Here's what Im trying to do....HELP!!
I own an 01 COugar V6 (this is the BEST duratech forum). Looking to swap on the 98 SVT upper and lower intake manifold and throttle body for better flow, I also want to put on the 19# injectors but the 98 parts that I am buying come with return (non-returnless) fuel injectors and arn't compatable right? Then all I need is mid 99+ SVT injectors and I've got the swap right? Help me out guys, I just sold my 2000 Mustang GT and want to upgrade my cougar.

Differences from your 2001 and the SVT include:
Upper (and possibly lower) intake manifold
Fuel rail and injectors
Cams
Pistons (higher compression in the SVT)
Throttle body
Engine computer programmed for higher octane (more timing advance)

You are on the right track, but the only place that can trip you up is the lower intake manifold and fuel rail/injectors.

True, the 98 SVT fuel rail and injectors will not work with your car. Your lower manifold might already be the same size as the lowers on the early SVT's, I'm not sure. You can buy the lower with returnless rail/injectors from BAT.

Going to 19lb injectors, however, is not going to buy you anything unless you've done some serious mods to the intake/exhaust. More fuel does not automatically mean more power. You have to have the air flow to go with it. Unless you are exceeding 170 wheel hp, you do not need 19lb injectors.

So I WILL need the fuel injectors if I go over 170 to the ground. I mean granted I dont want to run pig rich or lean out and detonate either. Would you recommend the injectors at all with these mods:

Headers/Y pipe/Catless exhaust (borla)
Aem Intake with HKS air filter
Upgraded spark plugs and wires
SVT UIM
SVT LIM
SVT 65MM throttle body
75mm MAF
...
Is my fuel system returnless right? Using the LIM on the 98 would be pointless and using the 98 UIM would be less beneficial than say an ST200/SVT from 00 on up? You guys are a killer help THanks.
