There's no way a 2.7 amp motor can create enough boost to do any good.

There are several other electric "superchargers" on the market, and all are reportedly junk.

Besides, your ignition computer wouldn't know to dump more fuel at WOT... you'd run lean if anything. No good...

Boost? Who said it had boost!

This product is not designed to add boost but to make up for inadaquacies in you intake setup

electric superchargers are totally junk. I have never heard of or seen a electric fan that turns at 100,000 rpms. Or anywhere close for that matter.

To give one PSI of boost requires 60 or 70 amps.

This isn't true, your MAF registers the additional air charge. There's nothing wrong with an electric supercharger if you give it sufficient muscle. (This is a lot easier to do if you have power available at, say, 48 or 96 volts instead of 12.)

I wouldn't say that electric fans are junk or not capable of boost in a car. They are very capable if designed correctly to produce as much boost as you want. You can use a very strong motor to turn a turbine just like you use the engine to turn on in a centrifugal blower. The problem is how efficient is it, and what kind of power is required to turn it.
As far as the rpm, you can use gearing to achieve the desired turbine speed. The problem is the car electrical system is not cabable of supplying continuous high power for a serious electric blower. Think of the electric car and the power the motors have that make the car move...except they suck lots of electricity.

40hp is a joke on a small electrically driven turbine like that; sounds like false-advertising at the cost of time and money. If anything, I would think you'd lose power by having that piece of junk in between you and your intake.

But if you have an hour and 60 dollars to waste, buy it and try it out.. maybe it has a voodoo aspiration spell cast upon it (would certainly make us all look like jerks). If it even generates half the power that it's claiming, I'll swallow my vomit and buy one.

And, aye, the Mass Airflow Sensor is what the computer uses to determine the correct air/fuel mixture. A popular and relatively inexpensive mod, aside from swaping your chip, is to replace the MAF with one designed to give slightly modified readings (good luck passing emissions inspection on that one).

I would be more concerned, however, with mounting that turbine. The author's recommendations also seem somewhat interesting. He recommends using a cold-air setup and having an increased exhaust (it's no good when your engine can't let out the increased air it's taking in). These mods alone might yield half the power he's talking about (in the 20hp range, depending on other mods).

But I don't know.. I'm the furthest thing there is from being car-savvy. If you've got 60 bucks to lose, tell us how it works out.

If you want an electric "supercharger" that actually worked for me, go to http://www.electricsupercharger.com and talk with Mark Kibbort (SP?). He's been selling these things for several years in basically the same confirguration as when he started. The 50 amp motor doesn't quite make 1 psi, but did make a nice 9 HP improvement on my basically stock SE back in '99 at the CEG K.C. National meet. It also helped me take home the quickest SE award from KKM that night with a $50 gift certificate attached. Beat several modded SVT's down the quarter with the E-ram, a CAI, SVT TB, and a S&B cone filter.
