I had prices of $300-$600 quoted for 4 cyl chrysler product...so v6 should not be more than double that...unless there is some kind of major difficulty associated with the doing this on duratec engine.

But surely should not be more than $1000??? I know nothing though, just guessing.

I have no idea of parts cost but suppose its $200. Then they also generally have to have the head heat treated or something to make it level...might be $200 for that (generously, I think). That still would leave 8-10 hours of labor...for $1000 total.

20 hours of labor??? can it really take that much confused

The general ballpark is around $1000 which includes labor. 20 hours of labor sounds really high. Are they removing the engine for some unknown reason? Get a second opinion, and don't ask the first people for a "referral".

they told me that i was better off just dropping in a new engine. that would be 5000 to do this. thats 1000 more than i paid for tha car. i wouldnt complain about the cost to do the head gasket repair, but im only 17 and have limited income.

Patrick says around $1000 is what it should cost. Why are you wasting your time with these guys who apparently want to rip you off confused

Call around...get some other prices. Call a ford dealer they should be the highest non-scamorama price.
