I'm a Leaf fan, but first and foremost, I'm a hockey fan. I love to see the better team win, even if that sees the Leafs losing. I was disappointed when the Leafs lost to Carolina last year, but I wasn't too upset as Carolina clearly outplayed Toronto. That said, I'll be wearing my jersey and cheering for the blue and white as long as they're in the playoffs.
If Ottawa outplays Toronto in the playoffs like they have during the regular season, then so be it, I'll wish them luck as I would any other team. I'm sick of seeing teams go farther than they deserve. That's an obvious contradiction, I know, but you know what I mean - I want to see the best teams play, not teams that are temporarily overachieving.
Back to the "incident", Alfredsson didn't actually swing his stick at Domi - he was attempting to get it free to swing it, but Reichel had his stick tied up so that Alfie couldn't get free. If he could, maybe Domi wouldn't be quite such a bad guy through all this. I agree that any stickwork should be removed from the game and / or dealt with harshly.
And you really think keeping your gloves on is WORSE than dropping them to scrap? Have you even been in a hockey fight? I'd much rather be hit with a gloved punch than a closed fist any day!
By keeping his gloves on, Domi showed that he wasn't going to pummel Arvedson, he was just taking exception to the alleged stickwork. If Domi dropped the gloves and pounded the stuffing out of Arvedson, he'd be gone for a lot more than 3 games!
As far as Tucker is concerned, well, you live by the sword, you die by the sword. Sooner or later it all comes back to you, and I'm sure Darcy is becoming increasingly aware of the repercussions of his actions. Nuff said.
