They're just venting their frustration the only way they can. Guys like Tucker have cried wolf for far too long, and they have nobody left to cry to. The refs are sick of it, and the league is sick of it. Give them a couple of games to let the lineup changes take effect and we should be back on track. (And I'm not ragging on Tucker, that's just the way he plays. You take the good with the bad.)

Yes, Domi has been a repeat offender in the league, but he didn't even drop his gloves. Do you really think he's dumb enough to drop 'em with Arvedson? He just pushed him around a little to let him know he felt the stick. I guarantee Arvedson won't try doing it again.

Since this entire scrum was under the scrutiny of the league, why wasn't Alfredsson repremanded for attempting to stick Domi while the scrum was happening? Oh, I forgot, Alfredsson is a "nice guy", Mr. Lady Bing, and would never try to swing his stick menacingly at another player! What was I thinking?!

The Leafs have never done well against Ottawa in the regular season, but it's the post-season that counts. I'm sure Ottawa will be golfing long before the Leafs again this year.

And I'm sad to see McCauley go - he's been a dedicated Leaf for a few years now, and can turn it up in the playoffs when needed. San Jose has got one hell of a player there. That said, I think Toronto got the better deal for the immediate future, which is what we're finally concerned with. Nice for a change! Nolan will only add to our grit and skill, and other teams are going to take a beating against us in the playoffs!

If that's they way Tucker plays, maybe he should re-examine a few things. He wasn't this bad when he came from Tampa. And he backtracked on the spitting thing. Now, I watched the footage over and over again, and I didn't see anything. Tucker was moving pretty quick though, so it is hard to tell.

The fact that Domi didn't drop his gloves makes it worse. Then it's a fighting major, and the ref's job is simple.

As for Alfredsson sticking Domi, I have yet to see that in the footage on TSN or Sportsnet. If he did it, fine, he should be punished. Stickwork is garbage, pure and simple, and it should be out of the game. End of story.

By the same token, I have yet to see Arvedson spear Domi as noted in a post above. If he did it, that's wrong.

I still argue with a friend about Alfreddson's hit on Tucker last year from the playoffs. I thought it was dirty until I saw the reverse angle which clearly shows Alfie changing direction at the last second to make it a clean hit from the side (and his wife drove and SVT? He can't be evil!). If you watch the tape from all angles, you cannot deny it. And you know, I thought a broken shoulder took more than 4 games to heal.... maybe the Leafs brought in Pope Scotty to heal the injury.

Anyway, this is well and good to talk about now, but the playoffs are coming, as are the playoff pools and Canadians yelling at their TVs to no end. Can't wait!
