Yeah, i second that with the warranty. My family has had horrible luck with Chryslers. My sister bought a 97 Neon Sport new and the check engine light came on at 10k miles and stayed on until she sold it with 50k miles. The techs at the dealership never could figure out what was wrong with it. Me, my dad and my brother ended up working on it before we sold it and found out it had been running on three cylinders for 40k miles because of a bad plug wire.

Cheers

Time for True Confessions. I've got the dealer trying to find an ACR for my daughter. I figured it would be "ours." ....her's for school and our's for autocrossing. After reading the Grassroots Motorsports mag article, I am convinced it is faster than the SVT at an autocross. It is also G stock, unlike the more expensive Focus SVT and V Spec that are D Stock against the Type R. eek The new SRT-4 will be D Stock as well, I will wager. With its heavier 2.4 liter turbo and R/T suspension vs. the better ACR competition suspension, it will be about even in autocrossing except on fast courses.

If they can't find me an ACR in time to get 2 grand cash back, then I may wait for the SRT-4. It looks mighty good at $19,995 plus limited options....plus extended warranty unless we luck out and get the 7/100K. BTW, svtcarboy, that warranty DOES cover the powertrain...for now.

Zack, neither link worked for me. Try www.dodge.com and they have good pics of the SRT-4. I still think it's a cop magnet and lacks the class of the SVT, which I will continue to drive if my daughter gets the ACR.

if you click on them, they won't work. You need to open another browser window, and cut and paste the link into them. Otherwise you get an error.

Wow, those are the first pics I have ever seen of that car and the first time I have ever heard of it. I hate that it's a Chrysler but I like the looks of it. I may have to consider it in the future.

With the exception of the wing the car looks suttle, but wow 0-60 in 5.9 is very impressive. To bad it's a neon.

SVTCole the latest info I've seen from SCCA is that we have been moved from d stock to g stock for the SVT Focus. The Sentra SE-R was moved as well but the Spec V stayed in D.

Bad little ride. Would love to 'decontent' the exterior. Tuners will have fun w/this car. Remember the Laser RS and the Shelby CSX? 140/148 mph dead stock (on radar, Motor Trend test) for $15k, both ran worry-free for years? This may be a long-awaited follow-up sleeper (sorta). Wish the Focus would come close, but even the (finally!)SVT version is trounced by the Matrix/Vibe GT so far.....it's sad. Bet Dodge sells 'em like hotcakes and makes a retuned version in '04. CAFE rules have been relaxed, I hear, so we'll see what happens with this nasty little Neon. I like what I've seen so far.

98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....
