This is a question i've always wanted an answer to and i've heard a couple different theories on but I wanted to know the truth about this subject. Can your car run significantly faster 1/4 miles times depending on where you are in the country. For example my buddies civic Si runs mid to low 15's here in Columbus, OH at national trails raceway. Now when he lived in Florida he said his car ran a 14.7 with the same exact mods. I mean it's not like he WAS a good driver, then moved to columbus and started sucking, and he's not lying. so whats up?

Altitude, humidity, temp., track conditions....there are plenty of ways to run better or worse.
Down here in Florida we are lucky to be so close to sea level, but the humidty more than makes up for it....probably average 80% yearound.

Exactly! Here in KC we have the worst of most of those. 1100-1200', 80%+ humidity, and a POS track that's uphill... ...but hey it's a place to drag race legally.

That's why you really can't compare times run at different tracks. I know I run faster ETs at Englishtown (by about a tenth) with slower traps (by as much as 2 MPH) when compared to Cecil County Dragway. Both similar elevations. Like it was said, different conditions, different track surfaces, elevations, flatness, etc. You should have seen Osceola at Spring Zing - holy redneck cheapo track!

Yep, those are the scenario's that on e faces when heading to the track. What I do is compare my time/trap to other cars times/traps. It gives a good estimation of where your car is in the world of acceleration. Of course there are poor driver's, but try and stray from comparing to them.....kinda like the WRX with an NOS sticker on it that ran an 18.xx my last trip to the track!

I agree there can be all kind of factors playing in the role of your track times. Here in Tulsa,Oklahoma times ran here tend to be about 2 tenths slower than the track in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. So, there really isn't anything u can do but go where your times are the best.

IMO Houston Raceway Park is the best track in the country.

Ain't that the truth. When I had my 94 Z28, I was nearly .5 and 3mph faster at HRP than at KCIR. What's even more mindboggling is that I was running in warm weather at HRP too.
The good news about KCIR is that it's getting resurfaced right now so hopefully the ruts, dips, and "glass-like" surface will be fixed.
