I have seen them for this price also. This is also WITHOUT a new Torque Converter, assuming that the original is still good. But the weakest links in our transmissions are the Valve Body and Torque Converter, so I would opt to REPLACE both with new. That is what brings the price of a rebuild up over $1200. When my CD4E went, I had a COMPLETE rebuild priced at $1200 with a 12/12k warranty from a local transmission rebuilder that was recommended by my dealership. The FORD REMAN CD4E came priced at $1700 with a 24/24k warranty, and all UPDATED parts (supposedly). These prices are, of course, without the R&R labor charges.

Its not easy at all. You have to drop the whole subframe to get it out. Plus alot of rusty bolts. It took the shop alittle bit just to get it out of the car.

It's definetly NOT just a bolt-in modification. Talk to Ben ( ninjatrlz@aol.com ) about it. IIRC, there is drilling into the transmission (valve body?) required. He had Terry H. do all the work, mind you
edit: found some more info:
Originally posted by RoadRunner: This is NOT a bolt on kit.
This kit requires removing the side pan and removing the Valve body
and reworking the valve body and using their gaskets for re-assembly.
The COMPLETE kit runs about $300+, and includes replacement clutches which grip better than the original clutches,
and they also take out all of the slack that the original clutches leave behind.
What you get is a transaxle that shifts FASTER, and FIRMER, not better.
This results in LESS WEAR, and LESS HEAT.
The other part of this rebuild is your Torque Converter.
I don't remember seeing a TransGo Torque Converter for this,
so Level Ten Torque Converter may be your only source for new.
