To the SVT.
The 1.8t motor hurts your neck from torque while it's between 2000rpm and 4000rpm, then it tapers off to redline. The 1.8t will take a good carlength on the SVT off the line, but the SVT would definitely reel it in and pass it on the freeway..
..unless the GTI has basic performance upgrades. Then they trap the 1/4 at 100mph..  You see then that the SVT stands no chance, save from top speed (gear limited on the 1.8t).
