Like others said, make sure there are NO mods on the VW cuz you'll be staring at taillights all day.
14's stock are for 2003's and up with a fantastic driver. Still impressive though. The GTI 337 edition has a six speed close ratio tranny and a variable valve timing engine that makes ALL of its torque from about 2000rpm on to 5500rpm.
I know of a modded 1.8t still running the stock compressor that turns consistent 13.4 quarters on drag radials. There are loads of 1.8t's with turbo upgrades running 12's of course.
Off the line in an SVT it's almost not fair against a 1.8t 'dub. Rolling start would be a much better race.
