I highly recommend this. I got the OBD-II scanner from Alex Peper at http://www.oobd-2.com. I bought the highest-end scanner, the one that works on just about every car since 1996, but I plan on using it on friends and family cars, too. Once I use it three times it has paid for itself and then some, since my local dealer wants $40 just to pull the codes.
