The only thing that would come to mind is that they might have accidently (or on purpose) unplugged the crankshaft position sensor. IT's the closest electrical thing to the crank pulley area. You should see it from the top of the engine w/ a flashlight.
But, not too sure if the car would even RUN with it unplugged.
I'd check it anyway though.
