I'm just kidding dude, you guys were getting off topic and I wanted to beak it up with a little humor. Just don't come to me or any other engineers on the boards with questions now since you stereotyped everyone as being a-holes that don't build cars that last a million miles and have tranny's that will take thousands of HP.
I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

Are all Irish drunks? Do all Mexicans pick beans? Does everyone that listens to the Greatful Dead smoke pot? No. And not all engineers are EXACTLY like the ones you deal with. So if you want to rant about engineers, go to Common Interests instead of hijackings threads here.

Well I'm not an engineer and I answer peoples questions, build things for them, and help them when they need someone to do anything mechanical for them. But I know my ideas on how to fix things or go about fixing them carries no weight on these forums. Because no one knows me, but don't worry it's not my loss It's yours

Adding that 250 shot of nitrous doesn't count Ryan...
However I am saying a freshly built 3L with hypereutectic pistons (I.E. stock - good to ~400HP safely), forged rods, DMD and upgraded bearings are going to handle about anything you throw at it normally aspirated and even a good dose of the old juice. (100 shot's fair game )
The best part about it is that a "well built" high strung (11.5CR & 7500+ rpm) 3L with a shot of juice is going to be as fast (possibly even faster!) as any of the built FI'd 3L's. Off the juice it still would be a strong light to light contender. However on the highway is another story.
Now throw in autocrossing and all bets are off since the high strung 3L makes it's power naturally and doesn't have to wait for boost (either exhaust lag or rpm dependant) Not too mention the front end is a bit lighter too without the added FI gear.

Everyone's opinion has merrit, at the very least it lets people know how they think...though that isn't always a '+'!
I don't recall seeing or writing or saying anything on this forum where others opinions don't carry any weight. You keep right on posting and I'll keep right on reading. Just DONT mistake a difference of opinion as support for your argument. I worked as chevrolet/infinity tech for years while I took part-time college courses. It helped me alot. I know that 90% of the mechanics that I worked with were part-changers, not thinkers. Many were always passing along all the myths from the old-days like 'back-pressure is good' and stuff like that. Their ability to diagnose a problem was decent, but thinking out of the box was a problem for some. But there were others who were gifted.
What you write and how you write it will determine how much weight people give your arguments, not me or my opinions. The experience a person gets in working with their hands on engines is arguably more valuable then a straight-up book learned education is. Combine both and you have creative, knowledgable experience.
