Are you all forgetting that the Dodge Stealth R/T was an Amercian clone to the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4? It featured the 6G72 engine from Mistu that peaked at 325 bhp and around 315 lb-ft. Even with it's 3700+ curbweight, it still cleaned off 60 in easily under six seconds. Tough for a Contour to match...
