I was amazed when I started to replace the electrical connector to the #1 injectr.

Almost every wire that is close to the engine is cracked to the point that the insulation will crumble off if you move the wire, it's harness or the connector that it goes to.

Obviuosly Ford is aware because they had the fan wire recall!

Although my car has 176K on it I have always maintained it well. It has never got hot or had the temp indicator make it into the red.

My wife's grandmother has an '81 Ford Crown Vic and NOT ONE WIRE IS EVEN CLOSE TO BEING AS BRITTLE AS THESE ARE!

Obviously the engine compartment's ambient temperature is a bit hotter than they anticipated or the didn't give a flying F about the life of the wiring harness that they bought!

Ford doesn't make the harnesses either. They are made by outside vendors. Obviously Ford didn't worry too much about the heat problem!

What ****ty parts!

wasn't there a recall or something on underhood wiring for some 95s? What year is yours?

It is a '95 GL.

The only wiring recall I have ever recieved is for the fan wires. They are a joke!

I've had a seat belt recall, a gas leak recall, a recall for the fan blower switch and the radiator fan wire.

Just had mine replaced too. It was causing the car to stall at highway speeds.

Lincoln Mercury was suppose to replace it when I took the car in for the recall back in '97 but I guess they thought it didn't need to be.

So four years later, I almost get killed over it!

Gotta love these dealerships!

The dealer should take care of it. I didn't get a letter, but had the car in for some other work and found out there was a recall on the wiring. Dealer replaced 3 different harnesses.

My wiring is also a mess, and I was turned down by Ford about a year ago because I was over their 100K limit (was 105K, now 121K). It sounds as if there might still be some hope in getting Ford to at least help with the costs. I even offered to install it myself (right now I have the intakes off (Duratec) and the wiring going to the injectors is a disaster), but Ford wanted over $900 for the harness!

If anyone has a better angle on how to approach this with Ford, I'd love to hear it! Thanks!

That fuel injector wiring harness will run you about 300 to 400 dollars!

Does this look similar:

Had my entire engine wiring harness replaced by the dealer at 120k miles. They covered 80% I paid the 20% Car runs like new....

Even better, none of the connectors on that POS harness have standard Ford part numbers on them, so if one breaks GOOD LUCK getting a replacement! I finally tracked my busted IAC connector down to an AMP part number, but the AMP distributors want a minimum order of 300 pieces...

I was quoted $400 for that harness from the local Ford dealer...which means it's probably $250 from Bill Jenkins.

On the other hand, even if I replace the IAC connector, who knows what the connectors/wiring to the injectors look like. I'm almost scared to find out.
