And obviously, this first time it came on, I stopped and checked the level, it is at the cold maximum. It only is on when I first start the car, and then shuts off when the engine starts to warm up, a minute or two later. Is this premature signs of waterpump failure? T.I.A.

this is a normal problem/annoyance in our cars. add a little more coolant to your reservoir. the sensor is very 'sensitive' in there. it likes to be a tad over maximum.

I got the same thing happening to my CSVT. This only happens when its cold though and was wondering the same thing. I usually add a very small amount of water and coolant but don't know if this is some early signs of problems to come.

You probably have had the car parked on an incline or slope when the light comes on at start up - right?
Sensitive Sensor...
Just add about an inch of coolant / water to the reservoir and it will be fine.

Mine did the same thing and Ford replaced the sensor, never had a problem with it since.

Unfortunately, the dealers have no clue about these "quirks" with our cars. They changed my sensor without telling me. I took it in for recall work and I look over the slip and it said "Replace Coolant Sensor" because it stayed on.

I just unplugged mine. It's an optical sensor so any bit of grime in the coolant will set it off. frown

Mine goes on and off while driving. It usually takes about 10 minutes of driving before it turns on, then it stays on for anywhere from a minute to 10 minutes, then it shuts off again (if you continue driving long enough it will come back on again, then shut off again).

The coolant was changed before this started happening...could there still be air trapped in the system which is making bubbles which is tripping the sensor??
