Maybe this has been in the forum a thousand times but I didn't find anything about it
I planning to up grade the struts of my contour, I have already bought a set of eibach pro kits springs, I have had previous experience with Bilstein and they are great.
so I went with my local dealer and told me that Bilstein doesn't make the rear struts for contour.
My doubt: Is it safe to just change the front struts and keep the OEM in the back?
please advice

Personally, I wouldn't want Bilsteins on the front and the stokers on the rear. They wouldn't exactly be tuned to work in concert to give the best handling. You could try the ST200 strut deal at BAT, or a set of Konis.

Also, Bilstein does not make ANY struts for our cars. I work with them on a daily basis and have gone over and over with my rep to see it there is anything...Nothing!
So i purcahsed some Sachs struts for the street, and spent about a 1500$ for Bilstine to custom Fab as set of struts for the track. But as for anything for the basica consumer, there is nothing availible.
And there not going to produce the struts i had them make because there not cost effective and the car (from what my rep says) is not in high demand.

Bat Struts have always been rumored to be Bilsteins! Apparently they aren't allowed to sell them here under that name though!

I was thinking the same thing. The BAT Euros are as close as you're going to get.

That might be something to look into, i believe though if that is the case, that i and non of us can get them through bilstein becasue BAT and them have a contract forbiding bilstein to sell the after market...cause bilstein could make a bigger profit than BAT.
But even with this new speculation i can;t hoestly see it...because i have right here an internal document with every part they make, weather its for OE use or aftermarket. All they way form you basic cars to F-1's.
All the information i have conflics with what you tell me.
But im not saying your wrong, for all i know the information i have could be wrong. I actually find this very intreging.
I will look into it, because if i can score a deal with this, we deal with customers all over the nation that we could sell them too...hey it might even be cheaper than BAT.

EDIT:
Bilstein in europe is a seperate entity than in USA. They could only be availible in europe and thats how BAT gets them. And i have only been checking in the USA. But I might be able to get them knowing that and thus..get them extremly cheaper. how cheap...not sure...But i do deal with Bilstein in Germany maybe i can hook something up!!!

BAT Primarly deals in imported parts! That is why they support Merkurs!

Oh and the ST200 struts are Sachs Struts not Bilsteing. I have confirmation.

That's never been in doubt.
It's the "other" struts BAT sells that are swirling in a purposefully mysterious cloud that leaves the naughty bits to the imagination...
Check to see if Bilstein makes a strut for the european market Mondeos.
