I recently bought a used '99 Contour SE 2.0L. It has power locks. The deal said they didn't have a keyless remote for it. Is it possible that my car does have keyless entry and I just need to get a new remote for it? Is keyless entry standard on '99 SE's? Thanks!

No it is not standard, but was an option, as far as I can remember. But if you have power locks it is an easy after market upgrade. You can have a keyless system done for as little as $100.00 to $125.00 or you can do what I did on my 98 SE and purchase a car alarm with keyless entry. That whole thing installed only cost me $165.00 at the local Car Audio Place here in California the most expense place on Earth.

1999 Contour SE I believe that they have keyless entry. Between the previous owner and the dealer they probably lost the remotes. I think that the module for the keyless entry is behind the glovebox. Do a serch on the site for the location of the seyless entry module and then just check to see if it's there if so buy a remote and get it programmed and there's keyless for you. If not buy a cheap alarm because just about every alarm has a keyless feature that just taps into the keyless system and this way you get some additional security to.

I have no keyless entry....pretty sure it was optional.

Added after market.

I have a 99 SE Sport and keyless entry was optional. IIRC, the module is white and under the passenger-side kick panel (under the PCM, which is grey/silver).

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll take a look for it when it's light out. Hope its obvious to find. Good to know that 3rd party alarms are easy to install...

If you add keyless I'd forget the stupid alarm system. Those things are just annoying, and no one pays any attention to them anyway.

Of course I've never had a car anyone was likely to go out of their way to steal. smile

Can you really get keyless w/o alarm for $100? I was told it is like $200. I assume that the aftermarket system would not have the trunk button on the remote.
