I didn't paint my T-Red, but I did paint mine.

The key is trying to get all the chrome off because the paint will not stick very well to the chrome and will chip/flake much easier. I sent mine to a fellow CEGer and he stripped it using Muriatic Acid, which is supposedly easily available at any pool supply store. I had a body shop paint mine at the same time some other stuff was being done. With this process, I have had no problems waht-so-ever with chipping/flaking. Just added a few coats of the Zaino and its as shiny as the rest of the car!
Any auto paint store should be able to mix you a spray can or a pint to match your existing color, take them your paint code or drive the car there and let them find the code.
You definately won't regret doing this, IMHO the chrome looks out of place now that I am used to seeing them painted!
