I didn't paint my T-Red, but I did paint mine.

The key is trying to get all the chrome off because the paint will not stick very well to the chrome and will chip/flake much easier. I sent mine to a fellow CEGer and he stripped it using Muriatic Acid, which is supposedly easily available at any pool supply store. I had a body shop paint mine at the same time some other stuff was being done. With this process, I have had no problems waht-so-ever with chipping/flaking. Just added a few coats of the Zaino and its as shiny as the rest of the car!

Any auto paint store should be able to mix you a spray can or a pint to match your existing color, take them your paint code or drive the car there and let them find the code.

You definately won't regret doing this, IMHO the chrome looks out of place now that I am used to seeing them painted!

I agree with what Eric said. Make sure you get all the chrome off. I had my oval painted once without taking the chrome off. It lasted about 6 months before the paint began to chip off. I then took it off and soaked in in Muratic Acid (bought at Lowes) for like two weeks until all the Chrome was off. I then sanded it smooth and primed it with Dupli-Color adehesion promoter. I then painted it with multiple thin coats of Dupli-Color Toredor Red and topped it off with 6 coats of Dupli-Color Clearcoat. It looks awsome and is holding up really well. I highly recommend taking your time and doing it right the first time!
Good Luck!

Yeah what he said, I got chips in my first one too. Etching primer is also key, it is made to hold to non-porous surfaces whereas regular primer can't really bond well.

Heres mine, T-red:

I went to the local paint shop and had them mix and load a regular spray can with the high quality paint. They did a great job matching the color. I bought a can each of quality gloss and primer. Do as indicated in the other posts.

Personally I like it alot better than stock.
