I only recently found this site and I am thankful for all the work. I think I have read almost every post including the archived ones. This will be kinda long.

In 1998 I bought my daughter a 1995 Mystique to take to college. Since she was 5 hours away she did not have time to come home a lot and I could not keep a good check on the vehicle.

About a year ago she was home and said the drivers window would not work and she had a cel on. Took it to the Lincoln Mercury place where I had them replace the window switch and read the cel. Their advice - need two O2 sensors, dpfe and egr for a total of $800. Car was running just fine, no problems.

Told them to forget that! Appx 6 months ago she was home and driving down the highway and temp gauge pegged, she caught it and yep water pump destroyed. Had that replaced at my independent mechanic.

Month ago she was home and had my mechanic check cel and now a new indication of low coolant.

Repair: Low coolant was bad water reservoir, the float was sinking. Replaced tank, everything ok. Turns out the O2 sensors, dpfe, and egr were ok. Mechanic pulled intake manifold and cleaned passages between egr and manifold. CEL no longer on.

Found this site. Checked wiring harness. Crumbling. To dealer.(Ford this time, do not trust LM dealer). After waiting for over an hour they drove it in the shop and as I watched, they raised the hood, bent over, looked in, closed hood and said yep, wiring bad we will have to order harness. Could be a while sometimes they have to make those. Still waiting.
