Just to let everyone know I went with the kumho 711 205/40/17 because of the tread wear and no need for a real high performance tire (89 nissan stock motor) just the bigger tire and rim for looks. They were 350.00 for the four and I felt like it was a great deal plus free rotation and balancing and flat repair.
Thanks for everyones opinions and all that good stuff.

Here's what I posted several months ago. Tire rack has since lowered it's price a tad:

Firestone tried to give me a "complimentary alignment check". I turned them down. I'm old enough to know that Firestone or GoodYear stores don't give things away. They just get you in position for a good old fashioned screwing.

You should have seen the mountain of brake rotors they had behind the store.! The story is the same: Offer the customer the Brake Special and then whack them up for new rotors or drums. Or - Offer them a $49 Special Tune Up and then poke them in the rear for about $168.00 of other items that are needed.

So, anyone, did I get screwed on the Firestone Firehawk SZ EP's (225-50-16 Z rated tires? It was lots of money, but in today's rain they were great. They handle superb. And they are relatively quiet. I see why Corvette owners like them so much.
