Look..my brother has a 95 Contour...Bought his a couple of months after me. He has a 5 speed I have an Auto Mystique LS..both are 6 cyl.
His water pump blew out while he was sitting at a light..just like many other here have had happen.
Many Automatic tranny drivers here have had the same problem as me as well as broken front stabilizers, range finders (tranny), broken springs, bad EGR sensors, and cars with multiple unforseen codes.
I have never had a car with so many problems.
So ya...these cars suck.

Oh, you're breaking our hearts.
FWIW, my '95 GL V6 ATX now sits happily somewhere north of 140k miles on the original engine & transmission, and has consumed (aside from standard preventative maintenance):
1 water pump
2 batteries
1 set O2 sensors
...the cumulative cost of which would barely cover the timing belt part cost on a Honda.
Luck? Dunno. I ran that thing like it was going out of style. As many others have done to theirs, too.
Oh, and if you think other marques are immune to water pump failures, wake up and smell the distinct tinge of hot ethylene glycol.
And spare us the grievances...
