i've got what will fix it. nimo's codec pack. email me at hmouta@hotmail.com install it. it'll install just about every codec you'll need. EVERY video now works that i download. and i use kazaa. i set up adaware to remove spyware and run a dummy dll file

www.vcdhelp.com

is the last word in VCD authoring.

Essentially:
1. get the divx codecs installed on your system (or whatever codec the source material is in)
2. use tmpegenc to convert to mpeg
3. master onto a VCD.
4. Put it in a VCD capable DVD player.
