Hello All,
I think I've pretty much nailed down my odd clunks to a motor / trans mount. I think i've got a busted motor mount based on warming up my car the other morning. Rev'ed the hell out of it to get it to warm up faster. Revving the engine up once it hits it's resonance frequency I presume, I can feel it bucking the engine while in park, (only did that for about 3 seconds) and when I went to shift into reverse to back out of my driveway it made a hard shift, and then back into drive wasn't friendly either. I've also noticed when I hauled ass out of my driveway in reverse and slammed on the brakes to come to a stop so I could shift into drive, a noise similar to what I could only describe as a rubber mallet railroad rail. Two of these in rapid succession, I suspect that it's my engine bouncing on it's mount.
Second thing I noticed, I didn't think both wheels were pulling, so I did the simple thing in this fresh chicago snow, I pulled up to my garage door put it in reverse and stood on it. I watched a white rooster tail paint the garage door in front of my right tire, but nothting from my front. I did a quick search couldn't find any matches for "positraction" or "posi" and I thought that FWD cars have both wheels powered. I don't know if this is different for reverse, or if I need to add this to my list of **** I need to get fixed. I'm going to try the same in the morning and have a friend watch while doing this in drive and see if there's any difference. BTW this is an ATX. Any and all help / comments would be appreciated, don't want to get hosed when I take it in.
Thanks,
Brian
