When trying to crank it over - have someone watch the drive belt.

You may have a pulley siezed which is preventing the car from starting.

Happened to me....AC compressor siezed and the car wouldn't start...I installed a new belt that bi-passed the AC and whamo - runs like a charm.

No AC mind you but I'd rather pay the $140 over $1600 for a new compressor.
