Type R will NOT hit 165 actual speed stock..not even close. Its power and drag, not power and weight. 195 HP is not going faster than the 140ish MPH clocked by C&D unless its downhill. GSR = 134 MPH. What the speedo says...is probably wrong.

Most speedos (especially Honda's) are 10+ MPH off after 100MPH.

Ditto for me. Could have gone a bit faster, but was running out of track.

there are CF/fiberglass "wing" parts you can put under most front bumpers, i reckon they could go on our cars. they really don't look too good, but could be effective. my car seems pretty stable at 100+, though i do have a good surface to use, which can make all the difference at high speed. in fact, any contour should feel fairly stable at high speed on a decent surface.

I've hit 135 while running late for school one day. I know it was stupid but was too fun. Had to let off, traffic comes up really fast at that speed, but it felt really stable.
To contrast, I had a 95 Mystique LS at one point, and @ the 115 MPH limiter it was quite unsettled. I only did that once

I see I'm not the only one. Maybe it's the Mystiques? Haven't seen anyone complain yet of a Contour being floated at high speeds. I always thought Mercury was the luxury side of Ford? Maybe they wanted the Mystique to be smoother, because I've noticed my Contour will crash over potholes and suffer some bad bump steer in corners, where the Mystique won't even notice them. Odd...or am I just talking crazy?

I have been in my svt contour going 150mph. I think everyone should try one day! I forgot to mention the car was still pulling. It wasn't pulling hard but good enough to make me have to clean the leather.
