Their top speed is still achieved in 5th gear! Now it can let them run a shorter rear gear (4.10 or 4.56) and still get good gas mileage. Thus making it a 5-speed tranny with a second overdrive. Yes I think the T-56 is a great tranny, but not the giant performance factor you make the extra gear out to be. 2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

So I'm not exactly a more gears the merrier type of guy. "Yes I think the T-56 is a great tranny, but not the giant performance factor you make the extra gear out to be."
