How can you even put a Contour and a Neon on the same page?

Ambiguous and perhaps rhetorical, but in case you were talking to me:

Worst and 2nd worst.

Intrigue I picked as best in worst 10 (actually 9th, 10th was Chev Corsica [64, 77]) and Camry as sedan with highest score.

Sorry, I didn't mean that towards you. I'm just saying people in general. Again, how does a Corsica rate higher then either the Neon or the Contour? The Corsica is EXTREMELY unreliable.

But, Ford has always had problems with perceived reliability. The Cougar was killed for the same reason. It always scored at the bottom of these serveys. For example, I read once that the most owners of the V6 5spd models thought that the car was underpowered.... How can a 170hp V6 be considered underpowered?

But I ask, what is the fatal flaw in our cars reliability wise? The transmissions don't blow up like a lot of Chryslers, the engines don't eat head gaskets like Neons, the electrics don't fail all the time like some GM products. Sure, I don't take long sweeping right hand turns just in case, but there aren't any chronic expesivce issues that would cripple our cars. (Unlike the SHO)

And to top it all off, the Contour was rated as Best Small Car until it was discontinued by Automobile magazine, beating Toyota and Honda.

So how has it come to this?
