hi im having trouble with my 99 ford contour se 4cyl 2.0 it stutters on the freeway like i have no acceleration power at all just jerks idles normal i just replaced the fuel pump and the filters and got a tune up can anyone help me with this problems its been sitting for 3 months i need to get it back on the road i hate to see a nice car sitting thanks

I am not 100% sure but I think the fuel pressure should be between 35 and 40 psi when the car is running.
Otherwise the stuttering could be from bad plug wires. My car did this but I have alot of miles also. The case was the engine idled fine but then when trying to accelerate there was a bad stutter.
Also you might have a timing issue. there was talk about someone who was having trouble a few weeks ago and I think it had something to do with the VCT
of course check for codes and that might lead you to a solution

If it's been sitting for three months, are you still running the same gas that was in the tank? If so then drain or add new gas. Burn that crap out and run new gas with a fuel system cleaner.

THATS FIR REPLYING TO THE 99 FORD CONTOUR SE 2.0 (NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL) WELL THE CAR BEEN ACTING LIKE THIS FOR ALONG TIME AND THE FUEL IS NOT OLD THE DEALER KEEP SAYING ITS THE FUEL PUMP THEY CHANGED IT THEN IT GOES BACK TO ACTING UP I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP MYSELF AND ITS JUST DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER (JERKING) IT IDLES NORMAL BUT WHEN U REV IT UP IT GOES VROOM VRVRVRVRVVROOM AND I ALSO GOT A TUNE UP AND GOT THE INJECTORS CLEAN STILL DOING THE SAMETHING PLEASE HELP ME

Did your tune-up include new plug wires? Like Brapple said, bad wires can cause this.

i also have the same problem but my chec engin light is on and the car jerks once i can get it running bu i have a autonot stick any info you findout please send to m cause im ready t lose my coolwith this
