A coolant hose has broken on my car and the dealer wants 300 bucks to fix it. Slang term for the hose is a spider hose, located towards the top but feeding 3-4 places. Dealer says the hose is $80 (fine, its the dealer what did you expect) but the labor is $220. Is this insane? Dealer says it is the location/difficulty to reach the hose and connection points that is making the labor so high. I have been to these guys before and they are always been legit, but this just seems high for a frick'n hose. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks is advance.

When I did the lower radiator hose on my car it was a PITA to change. Set me back $50 for a Gates hose, I used my employee discount at the parts store I was working at. smile

With how tight the fit was on a Zetec, I could only imagine how much of a bear it would be to change on a Duratec. frown

Terry,
Thanks for the quick reply, and as always your knowledge of contours is appreciated. The higher cost is probably a premium for being in LA. Ill call another dealer and see what they say. Thanks again

ExDelayed,
That thing looks wicked bad. I am glad I didnt even think about trying it on my own. Kinda a no time/ no space/not sure what the hell I am doing kind of thing.

Mine went a couple of months ago. A new one from Ford was $30 and it took me less than 10 mins to fit. Didnt even have to get under the car, did it all from the top (But I dont have air con)
