get coilovers and have your car put on a scale where there is one for each wheel (i forget the name of the device). then you adjust each coilover to balance the car out. peace.

I might have to do that. I drained the tranny and didn't notice any difference in the handling. Tranny is grinding for some reason though ....

That only adjusts the cross weight(daigonally accross the car). You cant do anything about front rear or side to side wieght bias.

reducing driver's weight will help, get a 12 year old kid to drive, you sit in the back!

Seriously, replacing the front seats, especially if you have power, to Corbeau's or Sparco's will help a lot, removing the hood insulation will also help, replacing the hood with carbon-fiber should also reduce weight. Ideally, you want to reduce the front weight, without adding overall weight, so watch the audio system stuff.

No flames intended, why would you want to redistribute weight when a front wheel drive vehicle relies heavily on a front weight bias for traction?

Theres more to a performance car then straight line traction.

Try one of the new T-Birds...They are pretty well balanced. And they have decent parts...off the LS platform...

Just a question??? why would we want to try a t-bird if were talking about reditributing weight in a contour?

just doesn;t make sense to me....it was just kinda random.
If you gave some examples of how to even out weight like a t-bird then id understand.

i'd say your best bet isnt shifting weight or removing much of any from the back but rather just trying to lighten up the front as much as possible...

A/C pump is a big one... you might get a lighter radiator? lightened ps and alt pullies couldnt hurt... lightened flywheel if its mtx... uhhh maybe there are hardened half-shafts that are lighter than stock? tubular control arms would be nice... the stock ones are moderately hefty.. hmmm... lighter wheels on the front wont really do much for 'weight distribution' but it does make a big difference. uhhhhh u could probably find lighter brake pads.. take your hood protector guard sheet off from under the hood.. its useless pretty much. get a smaller windshield washer reservoir maybe? that would be pretty cool actually. brake rotors would be another one.. i think SPM has rotors that are lighter than stock for SE/GL's A tubular engine cradle / subframe thingie (the big U shaped frame piece under the engine) would be sweet and from what i understand that SOB is very heavy... if its duratec take the shroud off the engine and the bolts that dont hold the box thingie onto the valve cover can go to.

aaaaaaand yeah i'm all out of ideas..

(disclaimer: i'm just theorizing here, if you do something and kill yourself it aint my fault)

These are all good ideas. Something to try I suppose when the 'tique is retired from daily driver duties.

Q about the wheels though. As they are part of the unsprung weight of the car, lighter ones won't affect weight distribution though, correct ?
