OUCH!
I paid $24 and change for 6 motorcraft double plats and some anti-seize.
Just ordered some FMS plug wires, too.
I shall get some di-electric grease (live and learn) and a fuel filter if I can.
I'm prepping for a dyno...she's gotta be in tip top shape!

I stopped by Pep Boys to get my double plats and they wanted $9.45 (give or take .10). Now I realise why I went with the Bosch at $5 or so a piece the first time. After telling him that his prices were way f*$#ing off, he told me, "Listen buddy, if you want quality parts...come to see me here at the counter. Other wise you might be able to find what you need over there!" as he pointed over to the APC crap!

It was too funny actually, I laughed all the way to Checkers. I liked paying $3.99 AND getting the $2 mail-in rebate.

to be honest i knew getting them from a dealer would be a rip but after being offered everything that wasn't double platinum from teh stores i went to...+4's, some nascar crap, and single plat ap764's at autozone, pepboys and some other place i said to hell with it and went to ford...i was even offered an nkg plug that wasnt right according to what i'd learned here...the +4's and nkg's were 10 and 13 bucks at one place so i figured i'd pay the premium to be sure i got the right plug...i tried walmart but didn't have a x-reference number and didn't wanna risk it...

actually i hit the daily double rip off...same day i had stopped by sho shop and bought my ford racing wires...63 after tax...i was pretty tender 'back there' for a few days as u can imagine...

I heard that the +4s weren't good for SVTs (with the higher compression) but in normal Duratecs, they did fine. As far as I can tell, they do OK in my '95.

On my SVT the power band crapped out above 3500 rpms with the +4's.

You aren't supposed to use platinum plugs for nitrous. NX told me that they will cause backfires. NGK irridiums?

Is this what you really meant?

warmonger

Sorry I ment to keep the NGK's in a different statement and not included it with the Double PLats. The NGKs I use are not plats. I use the TR55IX Iradiums from NGK....They are great.!
