It sounds like your upstream O2 sensors may be going as I believe these are usually the first to go. Seems like 60K miles or so is typical for them to start dying. You could replace both of these yourself for under $120. I think the 1744 code may indicate a problem locking up the converter for 0 slip. If you haven't changed/flushed the fluid, it wouldn't hurt to see if this makes a difference. (I'll assume the fluid level is OK) Also check and re-seat the electrical connectors going to the transmission. The FAQ page lists 1744 as "Torque Converter Clutch System Stuck in Off Position." Should be driveable, but will probably get poor mileage. Don't know if it will hurt anything.
