Hey, guys... I am an Electronics Technician, United States Navy. I would LOVE to have a copy of the wiring diagrahms you are using... are they actual schematics? That would help me ALOT in my many ventures and modifications.

Any help or guidance as to how to locate a copy of those would be much appreciated..

Thanks

Ray

I bought the Tech CD for the 1999 Contour from Helms. The schematics are awful, but better than nothing.

Thanks to all for pointing me in the right direction...I found out what the problem to my brake lights not working as posted earlier by me and another fellow CEGer. The problem I had was with one of the connector pins exiting the turn signal indicator switch assembly. The connector harness in question is the one that feeds the rear lights and has three pins labeled as,LR +B RR. The +B sends voltage when the brake pedal is pressed, to the rear lights. Upon close inspection, this pin was discolored and had some soot on it. The receptacle that mates with that pin was more opened than the others. Therefore, there must have been heating going on for sometime due to a poor connection point, until the soot built up and disrupted the connection. I cleaned it out and tightened the receptacle mating clearance. Everything is working fine now. Thanks again, and I hope this helps someone else who may be experiencing the problem posted in this thread.

thanks pete!
my uncles contour has the same problem. Mine doesn't and mine has more Ks than his. But anyway, his break lights are not working...and thanks to pete, maybe we could figure out what the problem is to that. Another thing with his car is, all the lights in the dashboard and in shifter (you know, P R D 2 1) are not working. I dont believe all the bulbs went out at once? Anyone has any ideas. We checked the fuses...they're ok.
help appriciated!
thanks!!!

Hello Everybody,
I just want to thank everybodys input on my problem with the lights. Well, last week me and a co-worker, finally solved the problem and I have to agree with Pete2001. The connector pins were seperated and also had alot of oxidation build-up which caused the contacts to seperate. Also, the heat build up caused alot of discoloration in the plastic.
So, I appreciate everybody's time and effort. Also, just to inform everybody we viewed the Haynes book and the electrical diagram does not match the car, which states '95 to '00.

Anything else comes about I will be glad to post it.
Thanks again.
