Is there a trick to making the stock Ford indash CD player work with home made CD's. Every other CD player I have including other cars play CD's that I have burned with my computer. Any hints other than getting a new one? thanks

The stock CD player in our cars wont play many burned CDs. You could pick up a new deck online fairly cheap. And the sound quality would be very noticible.

If you dont want to buy a new one then here are some things to try.
Different CD's - try different color dyes on the cd's because they effect the reflectivity of the CD and how easy it is for the laser to read them.
Different burning speeds - Some people have no problems at lower speeds but other people have to burn at highger speeds to make them work (I would guess that you currently burn at high speeds so try going down as low as your burner will burn)
Clean the Cd-player - This may or may not help any but if the other dont work try it.
If you are still under warranty by ford complain about it and see if they can fix it (some poeple got theirs adjusted or replaced because of problems with it reading cd's)
thats about all I can think of off the top of my head.

My stock CD player will only play CD's burnt on newer burners! Could also be the CD type!

I found that slower burn speeds work better with the factory unit. You are better off buying a new radio, the factory sounds like crap anyway.

The older HU, didn't recognize them unless they were CDR and where burned at 4x or lower speeds. You can burn them at low speeds and make them work, or buy a new HU, and burn them at 52x and play audio and mp3 CDR and CDRW. Like everyone else with new HU. Also use CDs that look as close to normal CDs as possible, they are the fastest and easiest for the laser to read.
