Well I was going to get the SHO shop y-pipe but I've heard alot of bad things about their product and that it takes forever for shipping. Which company do you guys think sell the best Y-pipe with out a cat? I just want a y-pipe that will fit nice as a bolt on mod that won't leak and give me trouble. Thanks,
Jerry

I'm gonna say dont purchase one if you want it anytime soon. I'm not trying to be anti-SHOSHOP but i ended up cancelling my order becuase it took over a month and a half after i ordered it, and it still wasnt shipped. Claimed they were waiting on one of the pipes int he system, however for the 140 i was gonna dump on that, I can almost do complete true duals plus the mufflers. sorry if you're dissapointed.

This is the things I want to hear the Pros and Cons. How about the BAT one? Is there anyother companies that make them? Could an exhast shop just make me one using the stock one? I know theres a how to on here telling you what to do but it looks like a pain in the butt. Thanks

I asked the same ? along time ago and the only response i got was "it would heat up the oil in the pan cause of the long down pipe." But no one else could either agree or argue.

Well, the performance ford y-pipe keeps the 180 degree bend like the MSDS Y-pipe. A while back, this was discussed and the general concensus(spelling?) was that this keeps the exhaust flow even length which we all know increases hp. I think it has been dyno proven that the "Y's" with the 180 degree bend in them are better than those that don't (like the sho-shop, bat, etc.). This is all IIRC.

The problem is that it is a constant bend. This slows down the velocity of the exhaust gas and thus equal length piping does not equate to matched pulses!
So you are left with a heavier unit that does not perform as well as it should. The there is all the added heat the extra piping adds.
I would bet that a properly modified stock Y-pipe would easily outperform this "equal" length unit and it definitely would do it with a lot less heat transferred to the oil pan, engine bay, p/s lines, and underbody.
They claim a modest power gain over the stock Y-pipe. Well I should hope so. Even a flawed design such as this should be better than poorly crushing two 2" pipes together into one 2" flange. Thus effectively making each pipe under 1"!!!
Your best option for a Y-pipe is modifying the stock unit. Followed by a SHO/BAT unit with a chip or MSDS unit.
