hey guys, recently my friend brought this to my attention. He hasn't driven my SVT in a while so i let him 2nite and he noticed this about it, something i don't notice probably since i drive it often. But he said that the clutch feels wierd...as in where it engages. I don't remember, but my clutch engages when it's almost fully depressed (oh the way up) in every gear. He says that it should engage when you're just comming off of it. And I think that's what it was like when i first got her (on the way up). So my question is what's going on? I'll probably take it 2 Ford soon, just need some input. Thank you

As the clutch disc gets thinner(worn),the pedal gets higher...thats the way it is...

mine is the same way - always has been... 20,000+ miles lots of folks say this coming from another car, but it's the norm for ours - in a way its nice - saves you from grinding gears when shifting quickly

So I guess I have nothing to worry about? It was just wierd driving my friends Foci cuz i'm so used to the SVT (being the only manual car i've EVER driven) and i stalled @ a light with the Foci. Well thanks guys, but should i get the clutch checked anyways?

My clutch has always engaged/disengaged right at the top of the pedal (needing minimal pedal travel)
I love it immeasurably... Nothing like being able to quick shift with a tap of the clutch.
Did it mile 1 and still exactly the same at 21k+ miles...
Wouldn't want it any other way...

Wouldn't want it any other way... That's interesting as I prefer the exact opposite... I like to just nail the clutch to the floor for fast changes. My Kadett has the "bite" point right at the bottom of the travel and it's perfect for me. Ah well, everyone is different ! MarkO

my clutch also engages near the top of pedal travel. As far as I know, it's been doing it since I got it at 36k. Now it is at 69k miles.

I just changed my clutch at 67k about a month ago. I noticed NO CHANGE in pedal feel or where the clutch engaged. It has always engaged very high. This is not typical of all cars so its going to feel weird to someone else who doesn't drive contours.
